An Excerpt from my favorite book

The Wanderer- Sharon Creech

Chapter One
The Sea

The sea, the sea, the sea. It rolled and rolled and called to me. Come in, it said, come in.

And in I went, floating, rolling, splashing, swimming, and the sea called, Come out, come out, and further I went but always it swept me back to shore.

And still the sea called, Come out, come out, and in boats I went'in rowboats and dinghies and motorboats, and after I learned to sail, I flew over the water, with only the sounds of the wind and the water and the birds, all of them calling, Sail on, sail on.

And what I wanted to do was go on and on, across the sea, alone with the water and the wind and the birds, but some said I was too young and the sea was a dangerous temptress, and at night I dreamed a terrible dream. A wall of water, towering, black, crept up behind me and hovered over me and then down, down it came, but always I awoke before the water covered me, and always I felt as if I were floating when I woke up.

Start of the Season

The season has officially started!
This means sore limbs and body parts from the gym training
and daily intensive hair washes thanks to the salty Hampton River water!
Not complaining, I love to sail
& want to make the best of this semester's opportunities.
Our coach is aiming for us to go to the American Cup,
hopefully we can get there?
I just want to get more sailing done...
Improve my skills and what not.

Sailing

Something that I do here at my school is varsity sail,
which i enjoy alot and I feel like there arent enough sailing blogs about the actual sailors and their interactions so I thought i would also like to document about my sailing team and its awesome people.
For now were doing conditioning only, no actual on the water things due to the cold weather,
but once the temperature gets hotter, there will be more about it most definatly :)

Pictured is one of our regattas at Lake Anna, we were invited by UVA.
Apparently this is a man made lake and that it never has any wind! BUT the day we were there , capsizes galore was what was going on, it was a crazy day.

I was sailing with my teammate/browski Josh which was a fun experience as always.
Quote of that day: "I have no competitive bone in my body, this is hurricane weather"

No joke, our boat was completely filled with water and it was a miracle that we didnt capsize until the time we did. I guess it's cause we are that awesome. Or something ;)
I decided to start this blog to follow other blogs and get followers that relate to my passion for all things marine and environment like, as well as some astronomical ones too, since I am also studying that.
Things that I like to do water related:
SAILING
kayaking
swimming
surfing
snorkelling
scuba diving (I WOULD LOVE TO BE CERTIFIED)
general staring at it , moving and just being water - that sounds a little crazy, but hey
learning about marine life and analyzing it
Alot of other things too

btw , sharks and hurricanes fascinate me.
